We present one of the finest hip hop artist making waves at the moment, blessed with lyrical dexterousness ,confident to the brim, cocky, has an interesting personality, singned under SulcataEnt records and a student of University of Lagos. The magnificent being  IFEANYICHUKWU DAVID ONOKA popularly called BRANIEE, holds a strong grip in the rap scene in unilag, as one of the most sought after rapper in town,His lyrical prowess and confident outlook has made him outstanding and exceptional. He won the Pepsi Top Ten chart Show hosted by Lynxx and Eku in 2014, He has continued to gain  popularity in the Nigerian rap industry and we met him for a more up and close information about the magnificent Brainee


Gidigeek: umm, thanks Brainee  for honoring our invitation to be our man crush Monday personality. So tell us about Brainee and how the name came to be?
Brainee: umm Brainee is just a cool dude, I am a hip hop artist, rapper, I could also sing , am a lover of music in general, just a young dude trying to make waves for himself. While the name Brainee was back in the secondary school, when umm, well basically I was a brilliant child in secondary school, I was this kinda ‘ITK’ I too know’ person in school and some teachers would be like this child is brilliant, then one day in class someone made a comment saying this boy is Brainee, and then there was this crew in school we had back in secondary school, we use to drum, sing and dance. We formed a crew and I got called myself Brainee, so that’s how the name came to be.
Gidigeek: when did you decide to make music your career?
Brainee: well, I started professionally last two years have been doing music since my secondary school years
Gidigeek: challenges you have as a student &rapper &poet?
Brainee: am a student, rapper, poet, basically me trying to prioritize my TIME,I find it hard to manage my time, to set prioritize, sometimes I would have  a school work, and as an artist I would have shows, interviews, shoots, anything could just come up at anytime and the ability to get things done at the right time is hard, things always overlap my time, stuffs comes up at every moment and time.
Gidigeek: what has been your biggest achievement yet?
Brainee: biggest achievement ,been signed to sulcalaent ,it’s like the biggest youth empowerment stuff in Nigeria, am under them, and they are managing me right now, it’s just the biggest achievement for me to be signed under them.
Gidigeek: if you weren’t doing music what would you be doing?
Brainee: if I was not doing music, I will study, philosophy, then law, be a lawyer, buy a land, buy a house get married.
Gidigeek: I know you have a lot of popularity about now in unilag, where else is your brand now?
Brainee: well my brand has spread across schools in Nigeria like unilorin, funnab, convent university, north America university, babcock, lasu, uniben, Afe babalola university, Ghana.legion.
Gidigeek:  won any award yet?                                     
Brainee: no notable award yet.
Gidigeek: how much did the Pepsi competition add to your career?
Brainee: well it gave a lot of leverage, and the fact that I went into the competition and won, I get reference, people walk up to me and recognize me and say they wanna work with me because of the fact that I won, so ;people believe am good at what I do.
Gidigeek: your role models in the game, someone you wanna work with?
Brainee: I respect M.I, vector, mode 9, in the foreign scene I respect Drake, J cole, Jay Z and people I would love to work with is patoranking, Wizkid, vector, drake and J.cole.


 
Gidigeek: what has been your biggest strength, what has set you apart from other rapper?
Brainee: well my ability to sound like me, not trying to sound like any other rapper, like I want to be myself, sound like myself, I get influence from established rappers, but I still sound like myself, so when am also established other rapper would be influenced by me.
 Gidigeek:what would you leave music for?
Brainee: heaven.
Gidigeek: define yourself?
Brainee: umm, ifeanyi is an easy going person, I like people who have positive aura around me, no sad time, I also have sad times, but I don’t allow it get to me, because if you allow it, it might define the way your day go, how the week goes, month and year, I believe the energy you have around you defines the way your life goes.
Gidigeek: most embarrassing moment?
Brainee: yh, when I was asked to perform at moremi hall week, and they told me they didn’t know who I was, ermm, that was year 1 second semester, so they said they won’t allow me perform in the grand finale , because other popular artist would be performing.
Gidigeek:  I heard about your new signing gat anything to say about it?
Brainee: it’s basically a blessing because in unilag, they were people before me, it’s not like I’0m claiming to be the best but I’m claiming to be the best in what I do, some people see me as the best, I ain’t bragging  but everyone has a bragging  right.
Gidigeek: have any special person you wanna shout out to?
Brainee: yh, my mom, she is one special person in my life right now, she has always been the most special person in my life, and she would continue to be.
Gidigeek: you call your fans brainiac you gat anything to them?
Brainee: to my fans or brainiacs am just gonna tell you, you guys should keep on believing in me, I would continue to do good music, like I write every day, I won’t let you guys down, I promise.
Gidigeek: any new thing coming out soon like an album or mixtape?
Brainee: yh, yh, i have dropped two tracks from my mixtape album, first track you dey madt or what second track jokin sturvs the mixtape has 20 tracks in it, has a lot of features in it, Basically the mixtape drops in mid August and will also have a listening party, will be strictly by invitation, no gate fee, it’s gonna be for the real brainiacs 
 
Gidigeee:  Gat any last word?
Brainee:  Last words, every day I need more fans, I never get tired of having fans, I like when people tell me they like what I do, it gingers me to do more, it gives me 
motivation and wants me to do more
